File | Options | General

The General tab of the Options dialog stores settings for general DPL options. It can be accessed by selecting File | Options and clicking on the General tab.

Display

You may optionally choose to have DPL restore its main window position upon start up by checking this box. If you do not check it, DPL will start maximized.

The arrowheads in the Influence Diagram can be displayed in color or as black only (for information on what the different arrowhead colors mean, see Influence Arc Types). By default, the "Colored Arrowheads" selection box is checked. If you uncheck this box, DPL will display all arrowheads as black.

You may set the maximum number of lines to display in the Session Log before it is cleared. When the maximum is reached, you can tell DPL how many lines to clear.

For new models, maximize pane:

This allows you to select which modeling mode you'd prefer to work in: decision tree-focused where the decision tree pane is maximized, influence diagram-focused where the Influence Diagram pane is maximized, or no preference where the model window will be split halfway with both panes visible. By default, DPL will be in a Decision Tree-focused mode. DPL will still continue to update the non-visible pane when appropriate.

Undo Levels

DPL allows you to set the number of Undo levels separately for graphics windows and for text windows. The reason for these settings is that Undo can be a fairly memory-intensive operation. Each Undo level requires memory: in a graphics windows, each undo level requires memory roughly equivalent to the size of the Model Window reported in the Workspace Manager; in a text window the memory requirement per Undo level is much less. If you encounter memory problems during an analysis, you may want to disable Undo by entering a zero for the number of Undo levels.

Outcome names/probs for new chance nodes

This section of the dialog allows you to define the outcome names and probabilities that will be used for new discrete chance nodes. You must have at least two outcome names and probabilities specified.

Alternative names for new decision nodes

This section of the dialog allows you to define the alternative names that will be used for new decision nodes. You must have two alternative names specified.

Automatically add new decision/chance nodes to non-default decision trees

As you start building a model in the Influence Diagram, DPL builds and maintains a symmetric decision tree for you refered to as the default tree. Once you modify the default tree it becomes your tree and DPL will not continue to update the tree. If you'd like for DPL to continue to add new decision/chance nodes added to the Influence Diagram to your non-default decision tree, check this box. If left un-checked, these nodes will need to be added to the decision tree manually.

After node name change

If you change the name of a node and would like DPL to automatically search and replace occurrences of the old name with the new in node data and get/pays upon name change, select the Replace old with new in node data and get/pays button. If you select the Don't replace button, DPL will not search and replace all occurrences of the old name. Or, you can choose to be prompted each time you make a name change.
