Exporting an Endpoint Database
In order to export an Endpoint Database, it must be displayed in a grid.
Displaying an Endpoint Database
To display an Endpoint Database, double-click on its item in the Workspace Manager. If the Endpoint Database is already displayed in a grid, that grid will be activated. If it is not, DPL will generate a grid for the Endpoint Database and activate it.
To Export an Endpoint Database
DPL allows you to export endpoints to a comma separated value (.CSV) file.
- Activate the grid that is displaying the Endpoint Database you wish to export.
- Go to Data | Export | Data.
- Select the directory and file name to export to in the Save As dialog.
- Respond to the prompt as to whether you want to export with state names (see below).
Export with State Names/Numbers
When you export endpoints, you may either export them with state names for each event or with state numbers. State names are what is displayed in the grid and are more human-readable. State numbers are what is required to import an endpoint database from a .CSV file.
Depending on how you intend to use the exported endpoints, select whichever format is appropriate. If you are using the export file as an example of what the import format needs to be, then select to export with state numbers. Also if you intend to do intensive post-processing of the export, state numbers may be more efficient.
