Portfolio Group Dialog

The Portfolio Group dialog allows you to specify the settings associated with of a DPL Portfolio Group.

Title

Specify a title for the Group.

Model

The drop-down list contains all the models currently defined in the DPL Workspace. Select the model from the drop-down list for this Portfolio Group.

Project Categorization

For category types whose data source is not an influence diagram node, you may specify project categories at either the Portfolio Group level or at the Portfolio Element level. Any settings made at the Portfolio Element level override the Portfolio Group settings. Click the Edit button to edit the categories. Once you have edited the categories, a label will be displayed in the Portfolio Group dialog indicating the project categories for the Group. The Edit button is disabled if you have not defined project categories for the Portfolio.

Initialization Links

Initialization links specify where the input data is stored for projects belonging to the Group. There are four types of initialization links for a Group.

  1. None: the Group does not require separate input data.
  2. DPL program: one or more DPL programs will provide different sets of input data. The model associated with the Group must have program initialization links defined.
  3. Spreadsheet: one or more spreadsheets will provide different sets of input data. The model associated with the Group must have spreadsheet initialization links defined.
  4. Database: one or more database records will provide different sets of input data. The model associated with the Group must have database initialization links defined.
  • Select the link type.
  • If using a database initialization link, optionally specify a Model ID.
  • If using a database initialization link, optionally indicate whether project names are stored in a value node or database field.
  • If project names are stored in a database field, specify the table/query and field. If project names are stored in value node, specify the node.

If you have specified group-specific export tables in the Database Setup dialog, optionally specify a Numeric export table and/or String Export table using the drop-downs provided.

Calculation Links

Calculation links specify where the value model logic is coded for groups associated with the Group. There are three types of calculation links for a Group.

  1. None: the Group does not require separate value model logic.
  2. DPL program: one or more DPL programs will provide different value model logic. The model associated with the Group must have program calculation links defined.
  3. Spreadsheet: one or more spreadsheets will provide different value model logic. The model associated with the Group must have spreadsheet calculation links defined.

If the group's initialization and calculation links are to the same workbook, you can check the Excel Links in one workbook box.

Note: if None is specified for both Initialization Links and Calculation Links, then the model associated with the Group represents a single project in the Portfolio. In this case, no Elements associated with the Group need to be defined.
