Running a Decision Analysis

To run a model, click the Run Decision Analysis button on the ribbon (Home | Run) to run the default evaluation method or select the desired evalution method from the drop-down split on the button. DPL runs an analysis on the the active model, which is the model visible in the model window. See Evaluation Methods for a description of each evaluation option. See Decision Analysis Options for a description of the run options within the Home | Run group.

Checking for Errors

Before running, DPL checks a model for correctness and consistency (for example, that all nodes have probability data and that the probabilities sum to 1). If DPL finds an error, it will display a message box describing the problem; when you click on OK, it will bring up the node for which the error occurred.

Outputs

When the run is complete, DPL creates an item in the workspace manager and an output window, if applicable, for all of the desired outputs. DPL also writes the expected value associated with the model to the Session Log (as well as the certain equivalent, if available). If a Risk Profile has been run, DPL also writes the 10th, 50th, and 90th percentiles of the Risk Profile to the Session Log. If the "Initial decision alternatives" option was selected, DPL writes the expected value and 10th, 50th, and 90th percentiles of these Risk Profiles as well. If a requested, value of information and value of control information will be recorded.
