Under the Objective for this decision heading within the Tree Instance tab of the Node Definition dialog you can specify whether an instance of a decision should be made with the goal of maximizing or minimizing the expected value of the objective function. You have three options for each decision instance: use the Objective Function setting, Minimize this instance, or Maximize this instance. This implementation allows you to choose between maximizing and minimizing at each decision instance, including the ability to have a single decision maximized in some sections of the tree and minimized in others.
This feature is rarely needed, since you almost always want to either maximize or minimize all decisions in the tree, which can be achieved using Objective & Utility dialog.
