Workspace Manager

The Workspace Manager is located at the top of the Workspace Window (just left of the Model Window) and above the Session Log pane. The Workspace Manager pane displays all the documents in the open Workspace in a Windows Explorer style tree structure. The top level is the Workspace. Below the Workspace will be displayed all the models in the Workspace. Below each model will be displayed the outputs and other items associated with each model. From the Workspace Manager, you can activate model windows and outputs, rename items, save items, duplicate models or delete items. The Workspace Manager uses a folder-style structure so you can see which output is associated with which model in your workspace. Outputs created in versions of DPL prior to Release 6.0 will be placed in "Other output". You can tell DPL which model the output belongs to by using the Properties Dialog (see below).

Docking

By default the Workspace Manager pane is docked to the left side of the application window. You may drag the pane away from the side of the window to undock. Or drag it to another location at one of the edges of the application window to dock it there. The window border changes as you drag it to indicate whether and where it will be docked.

Auto-hide

The Workspace Manager pane can be hidden using the Auto-hide function (the thumb tack button on the top right of the pane). When the thumb tack is in Pin Down mode, the pane stays visible. Pressing the thumb tack button will toggle to Pin Up mode and the Workspace Manager pane will collapse to a tab on the edge of the screen if docked or to a window bar if un-docked. When you mouse-over the tab or window bar, the pane will expand to its visible state. When your mouse leaves the Workspace Manager tab/pane area, the pane will collapse to a tab/window bar again. To keep the pane at its visible state, click the thumb tack to toggle to Pin Down mode.

Actions

In the Workspace Manager, you activate a window by double-clicking on its item.

NOTE: In some situations, double-clicking on an item creates a new item or changes the item. For example, if you double-click on a Risk Profile dataset that is not currently displayed in a chart, DPL will create a new Risk Profile Chart to display the data. If you double-click on a recorded Endpoint Database that is not currently displayed in a grid, DPL will display it in a grid and modify the item to indicate it is displayed in a grid.

The current model in the Workspace (i.e., the last model run or compiled) is indicated by bold face type for the item. Items in the Workspace Manager that represent data that are not displayed in a chart or grid are surrounded by "{" and "}".

Other commands in the Workspace Manager are contained in the context menu. The following functions are available in the context menu:

  • Properties: Displays the properties of the selected item. You can also move an output to associate it with a particular model via the Properties Dialog.
  • Delete: Deletes the selected item from the workspace.
  • Rename: Allows you to rename the selected item. For unsaved Risk Profile data and Endpoints created from a run, a copy of the data/endpoints is made.
  • Duplicate: Makes a copy of the selected Model.
  • Add to Workspace: Allows you to add a Model, Program, or Command Program to your Workspace.

The last three commands pertain to DPL Portfolio only:

  • Portfolio: From the dropdown you can edit a portfolio, group, or element or add/remove an element or group.
  • Update Report: Allows you to update a report using the latest data.
  • Add Chart: Allows you to add a custom Portfolio chart to your Workpsace.

In DPL Portfolio, items for outputs that are from the current set of extracted data are displayed with a green font.
