The Decision Analysis Society of INFORMS conducts an annual competition to recognize outstanding use of decision analysis in solving actual real world problems. Unlike other DAS/INFORMS awards with a more academic focus, the practice award is all about making a difference on the ground. No formal paper is required, and the judges are understanding about the need sanitize confidential details.
Work by Syncopation and Baxter Healthcare won the practice award in 2009, and we, ahem, still brag about it at every opportunity (including this one!).
