Inserting Named Variables via the Select Group (Command Program)

Inserting Named Variables via the Select Group (Command Program)

You can insert the names of events and values of the compiled model, along with their conditioning events, into the Command Program using the Command | Select | Value and Command | Select | Event commands.

Select Value

The Command | Select | Value command provides a convenient way to insert the names of value variables into a command statement. Choosing Command | Select | Value opens a dialog that prompts you for the name of the value to be included in a command statement.

- Select Conditioning Events indicates whether you want to include in your command statement just the name of a value variable (unconditioned) or the name of a value variable conditioned by its influencing events.

- Value Name displays a list of all values in the compiled model.

Select a value name from the list, then choose OK in the dialog. At this point, if you have not indicated you want to select conditioning events, the dialog will close, and the name of the value variable you selected will be inserted in the DPL Command Program at the current cursor location. If the selected value has the same name as an event, a plus sign will be inserted before the name.

However, if you have indicated you want to select conditioning events, and the variable you have specified has conditioning events, then a dialog will open for each conditioning event.

- Conditioning Event indicates the name of a conditioning event for the value you want to insert into your command statement.

- State Name displays a list of outcome states for the conditioning event.

Select one outcome state from the list, and choose OK. At this point, the dialog will close, and the name of the value, conditioned upon the events and outcome states you specified, will be inserted in the DPL Command Program at the current cursor location. If the selected value has the same name as an event, a plus sign will be inserted before the name.

Select Event

The Select Event option provides a convenient way to insert names of events into a command statement. Choosing Command | Select | Event opens a dialog that prompts you for the name of the event to be included in a command statement. As with the Select Value dialog, you may specify just the event or the event and its conditioning events.
